Trans-MTN Trail, la sal mountains, moab ut
Memorial Week 2001

Trip Map pending

This was the first backpacking trip in what has turned out to be a traditional annual event. After spending an inordinate amount of time of trying to get everyone's schedule to mesh and very little forethought in the planning phase, we strike out for the wilds. This first trip was taken along the La Sal Mountains that you see to the East when in Moab, UT. There is very little water and many Bovine implants but is still a fun multi-day with incredible geologic perspectives. These photos were taken with a disposable camera and then scanned and they certainly show it.

Buell and Polly. Polly is demonstrating a facial feature that has also become a tradition on these treks. We call it the "Constipated Baby face".

On top of Pilot Peak, a minor peak at 12,000 feet. Prissy the Bullmastiff is in the background wondering "what in the hell am I doing here."

Miss Prissy, a kind and gentle soul who loved everyone and was such a good dog. Prissy crossed the Golden Rainbow on 8 July 2002 and left a hole in my heart the size of the Grand Canyon. I still miss her very much.

Lake Warner with the hiking crew and my Mom and Dad who helped support this wondrous event by dropping us off and setting up a refit day halfway through the ordeal. In the background can be seen Haystack and behind it Tukuhnikivatz Mountain.

We were supposed to came at this site on our second to last day but opted to drive forward to our final destination one day early. We still wonder to this day why in the hell we came to that decision.
