Trip Map pending
First trip into the Sawtooths of Idaho and what an impressive range
it is. We took a circuitous route starting and ending in Granjean
campground totalling approximately 34 miles in four days. This trip
was magnificant and the sceneny was nothing like I've seen anywhere
else. There is a uniqueness to the Sawtooths that can only be described
by the beauty of its composition, latitude and altitude. I was also
taken by the large number and size of all the waterways in this part
of the country. Rivers and large streams everywhere I looked, the
water crystal clear and inviting to drink (still filtered it, however).
High alpine lakes dot the high country throughout and add to the
ambiannce of the winderness experience.

Starting out at GrandJean, three hikers and a Zuki

For some reason this trip report seems to feature only the person
in the middle - Polly. The reason for this is I suppose due to the
fact that the person on the right - Buell is a strong hiker and was
out of camera range for the most part, and the person on the left
is myself and was the person behind the camera. Those facts coupled
with the fact that Polly is a ham anyway served to put her in the
focus most of the time.

A few snow packs to have to deal with but firmly consolidated
and easily navigable. This location is at the height of our hike
right next to Sawtooth Lake.

There is nothing quite like stepping over wet numbing
cold rocks to make you truly appreciate getting to the other side
in one piece.
