Trip Map
The North Fork of the Provo River is a major south facing watershed
of the Western Uintas"Lakes District". It is capable of
very heavy runoff in the early season and can be a bit tricky to
navigate.
The
trail
along
side is rather primitive and undeveloped in places and this can lead
to some backtracking and bushwhacking. There are no developed bridges
and stream crossings are frequent. I would recommend this to be a
later season hike and next year I am going to follow my own advice
and wait a bit in the season before heading up.

Here is an example of the high water and the slippery
means to cross it. The river is actually split here and this bridge
leads
onto
an island of sorts with another crossing on the other side. Strider
had a rather difficult time navigating this bridge but he did
eventually make it. You see, he is really not all that agile,
he is more of
a big ole hunkering lovable boob.

"Hey, Who are you calling a big ole hunkering lovable boob?"

Another view taken of the swollen North Fork of the
Provo. It's moving a lot faster than shown in the photo, believe
me. You can still see snow in the background feeding this waterway.
