Trip Map
A quick day trip that does not require a lot of altitude gain due
to the fact that the trail head already starts out at high altitude.
This Western "Lakes District" of the Uintas is very crowded at the
height of the season and unfortunately a lot of people do not believe
in the LNT philosophy. It is a good and easy day hike however that
will provide a lot of interesting viewpoints.

This is Wall Lake which is the first of the lakes
about a mile up from the Trail head. In the distance can be seen
the notch in Notch Mountain.

After going around Wall Lake you begin to climb toward "The Notch"
as you begin to gain some altitude views start to open up. this
is looking West toward "Haystack" in the background.

Continuing on toward "The Notch" one comes
upon various "dog slakers".
The top of Mt Watson in the background.

Now standing in the "Notch" and looking West you see Wall Lake (foreground)
and Trial Lake behind. Trial Lake is next to Scenic Hwy 150 which
is the main route into the Western Uintas.

Now looking toward the "Notch" from the other side (East). This Lake
has no name but did smell like fish so I suppose one could call
this lake "Fishy Lake".

Strider has just taken a swim in Fishy Lake and now smells like fishy
wet dog...ummmm.

large image
Ibantik Lake which was the terminus of the hike. A
nice looking lake (although kinda low) in a cirque like setting which
would
be a lot
prettier if not for all the trash left behind. Hey!
people, get a freaking grip and pack out your trash.
